This jacket was designed to enhance the benefits of PAKAFILL® insulation to perform from freezing temperatures to high aerobic activities on the mountain. We achieved this comfort range by designing a laser-punched ventilation system to perspire into the insulation, maximizing the breathability to achieve a shiver-proof and sweat-proof jacket.

This jacket performs best in the temperature range of:

Fahrenheit
Celcius

PAKAFILL®

Other Jackets

Sustainable Insulation

Insulated with the fiber from free roaming alpacas in Peru.

Insulated with fossil fuels extracted from the earth (synthetics) or feathers from dead birds (down).

Storm-proof

PAKAFILL® doesn’t wilt when you’re caught in the rain, snow, or wind, keeping you safe in even the most extreme climates.

Weaker when wet. Other insulations (such as down) lose their loft when the weather gets tough, putting you in a dangerous place on the mountain

Sweat and odor-proof

PAKAFILL® is naturally anti-bacterial and odor-resistant (with only 8% moisture retention rate), requiring less washing or care.

Sweaty and smelly. Synthetics trap sweat and bacteria together - a combination which results in odor.

Made with care

The fiber in PAKAFILL® is fully traceable, all the way back to the coordinates of the small farm in the Andes where it was shorn.

Lack of transparency with sourcing and where the fibers or manufacturing is from.

PAKAFILL® has ½ the volume of down due to its uniquely structured hollow air pockets, which increase the fiber’s thermal retention while allowing for increased ventilation - keeping the material light, warm, and dry.

Thermoregulating

Naturally adjusts based on the temperature

Durable

Alpaca fiber has a tensile strength of 50 N/ktex

The Warmest Ethical Insulation In The World Is Here

Climber in a red jacket standing in the snow at the top of a mountain

The PAKAFILL® Lightweight Puffer was field-tested at 17,913' on the summit of Yanapaccha in the Andes Mountains by our Founder.

To stand behind the function of the new material, Paka founder Kris Cody teamed up with Peruvian Mountaineer Jose Mostajo and summited Yanapaccha, one of the tallest peaks in the Andes Mountains standing at 17,913’.

Following the summit, Jose Mostajo said

"It kept me warm the entire way up, never restrained my motion while climbing, and its shell prevented me from getting soaked as I rested on the snow. On the way down with the sun beaming, it regulated temperature better than expected. I was just... comfortable.

Summiting snowy mountain

On first impression it looked and felt like my down jackets, but I immediately noticed how warm it was compared to its thickness. I decided to trust it and took it as my only jacket for our Yanapaccha expedition; from the 2am freezing cold to the final ascent under a full sun, I didn’t need to add, remove, or switch layers. Being Peruvian myself, I’m incredibly proud of what Kris and the team have created. I’m honored to have been part of building the jacket and see this jacket finally come to life."

We didn’t just make it for us.

Until now, the outerwear industry has been limited to mainly two options for insulating jackets: goose down (obtained by killing geese) and synthetics (made with oil). Ethically sourced from free-roaming alpacas in the Andes, PAKAFILL® is now a third option.
