Adventure to Origin

We traveled through Peru with actress and environmentalist Nat Kelley to explore where our Essentials Collection begins.

Meet Nat Kelley. A PAKA ambassador and part of our family, Nat is Peruvian-Australian, of Quechua descent, and a lifelong advocate for the planet and all living things.

Recently, we traveled with Nat to Peru to visit the source of our Essentials Collection - the organic Pima cotton fields and mills where our underwear and tees begin their journey.

Together, we followed natural fibers from field to fabric to the finished pieces you wear every day. Because if it’s the first thing you put on every morning, it should be something you understand and trust.

Join us for the journey in Nat’s videos below.

Why Nat is Switching to Natural

For Nat, this journey started with a simple question: what are we actually putting on our bodies every day?

Most underwear today is made with synthetic materials derived from petroleum. These fabrics can trap odor, shed microplastics, and often contain chemical treatments that sit directly against your skin.

Natural fibers offer a better option. Our Essentials Collection blends organic Pima cotton, alpaca fiber, and TENCEL™ to create underwear designed for softness, breathability, and everyday comfort.

  • Organic Pima cotton is unbelievably soft and grown without pesticides.
  • Alpaca fiber naturally wicks moisture and is odor-resistant.
  • TENCEL™, derived from eucalyptus, helps regulate temperature and is naturally antimicrobial.

Following the Fiber in Peru

From the cotton fields to the mills, we followed the journey of our natural fibers as they’re transformed into underwear and tees.

And like many adventures in Peru, the trip didn’t go exactly as planned with a mudslide along the way...reminding us that nature always has the final say!

Eventually, we made it through and arrived at the organic Pima cotton farms in Tarapoto. Unlike conventional cotton farming, these fields are grown without the use of harmful pesticides. Choosing organic Pima cotton means supporting farming practices that are gentler on both people and the environment.

We then traveled to see our partners at LIVES, a Peruvian manufacturer of high-end sustainable knits where generations of craftsmanship transform raw natural fibers into the pieces you wear every day.

Inside, we watched organic Pima cotton spun into yarn, fabrics carefully knit for softness and durability, and finished garments inspected and packaged.

From Earth to Everywhere

This time together in Peru made it impossible not to think differently about the clothes we wear every day and the connection they have to the earth, the people who make them, and the choices we make.

What you wear on your most sensitive parts matters.

That’s why we choose natural fibers. That’s why we go to the source. And that’s why we’ll continue building products rooted in transparency, comfort, and respect for the planet.
