The Birthplace of Paka
Paka's journey began in the heart of Cusco, inspired by the rich cultural heritage and unparalleled craftsmanship of the Andean weavers. It was in Cusco that our founder met the remarkable artisans who became the genesis of Paka. The original Paka Hoodie was created here, in a small workshop where our founder spent countless hours living and learning alongside the local Mamani family. This very workshop remains central to our production today, with many of our sweaters still knit there.
As we took a step to create Paka's flagship store this year (and the first physical home for our brand), it was clear that Cusco was the only place to do it. It's a direct link to our roots, source, active community, and inspirational force of our brand. Over the past six months, we embarked on a journey to create this space that could serve as a home for our community.
The Heart of the Andes
Cusco is a destination for people around the world, with thousands of international travelers flying in each day to visit Machu Picchu. Our new flagship store sits in the heart of this city, just steps away from the Cathedral del Cusco and Plaza de Armas. Located at historic Sta. Catalina Angosta 139 with an original Inca wall entrance, the store offers existing and unreleased products, as well as Paka's own café (named after our mascot, Sebastian the Alpaca). In addition, we designed an adventure zone for local Peruvian guides to host trek briefings, workshops, as well as film screenings and public talks.
A Hub for Travelers and the Curious
When our founder first came to Cusco, his world was transformed. And at the same time, it felt like there was a space missing for outdoor adventurers to gather, share stories, and plan out treks.
"Cusco is where this all started, and we felt the need to give back to our community here.” said Kris Cody, Founder and CEO of Paka. “We've poured our hearts into creating this first physical home. I think we're all excited to witness the connections and adventures that come out of it."
Our flagship store represents that intention — it's a global hub for travelers and the curious. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a first-time visitor, our space welcomes you to connect with others who share your passion for exploration.
Sebastian's Coffee Hut
Our flagship contains a cozy café offering a local array of baked goods, trail snacks, superfood smoothies, and organic, single-origin Peruvian coffee toasted by our friends at Pachamama Coffee. With comfortable seating and a warm atmosphere, it's the perfect spot to meet up before your adventures or debrief after a day of exploring. We aim to provide an inclusive space where connections are made and experiences are shared.
